My daughter/son wants to try out the team to see if he/she likes it. Can we do this?
Yes. We welcome athletes to try out the team through the first two weeks of practice every season. All athletes must have the emergency and code of conduct forms signed and emailed before doing so.
Does my daughter/son have to compete at the meets?
No. Competitions are optional, but since they are an important part of the sport, we highly recommend that every athlete competes.
My daughter/son attends East Ridge Middle School. How will he/she get to practice?
Once we have a list of athletes and email addresses at the beginning of each season, we will send out information regarding carpools from ERMS.
What will my daughter/son need to bring to each practice?
We highly recommend visiting Ridgefield Running Company in town in order to be properly fitted for running shoes. We also recommend competition spikes, a water bottle, a watch, and comfortable clothing.
What is the uniform?
The uniform is the New Balance Tiger Cub Track Club t-shirt that comes free with registration and a pair of black shorts. Please help your son or daughter come prepared to the meets with this uniform.
Is there an attendance policy?
Although we recommend that athletes attend each practice, this is not a requirement. We hope to present a low-key atmosphere but urge each athlete to make a commitment to the sport.
We missed the registration at the beginning of the season. Can my daughter/son join late?
Is cross country just distance running?
Yes. The fall running season in America is cross country which typically has courses of at least 1 mile up 5K in length over a variety of terrains.
Will my son/daughter have the opportunity to compete in a variety of events?
We plan to continue the club to include the indoor and outdoor track seasons. The competitions during these seasons include a variety of events outside of distance running. We encourage our athletes to experience these different events.
